Roots

was it always
your vision
to break apart
the flower beds

to tear
the roots
out of everything
you knew
how deep
they were

but within
your hands
the melt
began
till you found
the deepest root
of all

it was then
i hid it
after you held it awhile
and decided it wasn’t
for you
