Roller Skating

The rockin days of roller skating Just traveling round and round Hoping you don't bump into someone Causing you to both fall down The music would be blaring And the lights would set the mood Girls go around smiling at the guys Hoping some guy would smile back too There was always some guy styling Trying to impress everyone with his moves He had the best pair of roller skates Which made him the coolist of the cool He was the one that sparked you Made you want to try a couple new moves So one day you could skate like him And be the coolist of the cool Those wild days of roller skating When problems were all left at the door Everyone rolling around in a big circle Hoping their bodies never hit the floor

I liked to roller skate and ice skate when I was younger. I don't think that there are any roller skating rinks where I live anymore. Especially like the phrasing..."He was the one that sparked you."

Dan, This really takes me wa------y back. I come from a small Texas town, where once a year a traveling roller skating rink[tent] would come to our neck of the woods for a month. You would be surprised what you could learn in that short if time. My first date with my husband was at one of these rinks. Hey, it was a good thing, we've been married 51 years the 17th of this month. Thanks for the memories! Avis

Never see kids roller skate today. Am I blind or is it true? Brings back sweet memories Dan, loved the speed and feel of freedom on those things.

You really took me back to memory lane..I used to LOVE roller skating, Dan..and YES, like Mr. Lambert below, I loved the moonlight skates..(had to pay for them to skate with me with scooter crunch bars)...don't tell anyone that BIG SECRET!!...My sister was the coolest skater of them all and I just tried to catch her. I even had lights on the bottom of my speed skates...over the top, I know. I love this memory lane trip...AAHHHHhhhhhhh. This is a great write from you. GWendolen

MAN! does this one EVER conjure up some memories of "MOONLIGHT SKATEs For COUPLES ONLY"...When I first would go skating waaaay back in the digggity day, there was no DJ...just a giant organ and some spooky white dude with a grey afro JAMMIN' OUT. I caught many a bloody lip when my drunk grandma would take me out, center rink. She ALWAYS promised to protect me...and BAM!, EveryTIME, I'd get jack up by some speed skatin' kid with a mullet! THANKS a whole lot man...now Imma have nightmares!~:)lol

I loved this!! I miss roller skating. My childhood was filled with birthday parties at roller rinks. I always admired that one cool guy with all the moves. Those were the days! Blessings, Rhonda
