Rocking the Boat
You Know How It Works
Remember, You Can Only Be Nice When Your
Friends Aren't Around
I am rocking the boat just as hard as I can
while you pretend that you don't have a clue
You thought he was kneeling, with no other feeling
just trying to tie a loose shoe
A coincidence happened, "really how odd"
the "Anthem was playing" (our song)
Veterans in stands were making demands
but snubbed by the useless (how wrong)
Heros stood up, zeros knelt down
forcing the rest do the same
And by the third week the NFL meek
had gone anti-American with shame
Many excuses as to why they all knelt
just look who was forced to obey
The flags that they wave at every parade
they're claiming they just want their say
They march to the beat of a different gun
law and order, respect (out the door)
They're bringing the streets to the NFL
just won't be the same anymore
I've said many times in all walks of life
that the good will out-number the bad
If the only solution is fear so they join you
then children won't love you, that's sad
You're torn between labels, maybe "Tom" maybe "Sam"
both bringing embarassment to you
Feeling safe with your buddies when riots are on
we won't burn our own homes, nor will you
I am rocking the boat just as hard as I can
no one fishing, is taking the bait
Appeasing is pleasing, afraid to be tagged
they won't let you stand, you must hate.
