Rock Star Stage Fright

so this coming week-end,
once more, I get to mount the stage,
and play with my band,
I hope we're all the rage

but them ol' butterflies
in the belly...
they are with me just now
I can not seem to control them,
for I surely know not how

this band of 3 rehearsals,
so surely unprepared,
must put on a great performance
one I surely would not have dared...

we open up at eight-thirty
for a well established group
I merely pray that we can leave there'
our faith, integrity , and pride that we can recoup

but come what may, it hardly matters,
for this is another mile that life has cast,
it won't be a fateful blow,
if somehow we shouldn't last

'cause music is in my blood'
I've done this many times before,
and win or lose I trust in God,
and know that I will endure.
