River Minnows
See Heaven
Or a little peep perhaps
Viewed unseen but in this summer light
Minnow’s dark tops sides a lovely silver hidden
Mesmeric a contrary counter way shapes and shadows seen
Green reeds softly sway the gentle flanking current persuades
Lit the riverbed of soft golden sands transmuted a bronze by depth
Glistening yellow auric the strong suns noonday blazing light beams down
Ancient buttress grey stone shaped by old artifice gives water a gentle pass
On the river bridge the weight an impetus of water a few feet down below
In the distance once bright garden colours given now soft focus by haze
Comfy white cottages over the river resting in water meadows seen
A self carved path by an enticement no choice drawn to the sea
The river flowing passing on its ancient meandering way
Sheep graze roaming enamoured of the warm grass
Scene of all basking in high summer sun
A pleasant walk down to the river
One of life’s sunshine days
