Rising Waters
Feelings can flood the soul
resulting in torrential downpours,
the tears like crashing waves
relieving the pressure,
cleansing the shores.
A brave face cannot always
dam the rising waters,
the vast reservoir
overflowing with dolefulness.
Peaceful surface waters
can cover tumultuous riptides.
Cathartic tears sometimes must fall
before the ardent feelings
of joy and contentment can return
with laughing eyes and smiling lips,
no longer hiding behind a glacial mask.
Learning to reconcile the yin and yang,
darkness and the light, ice and heat,
is the key to a harmonious existence.
We are all desperate for an amicable union
within ourselves,
a balance between the internal and external worlds.
God is the harmonious balance,
the peaceful waters,
and sometimes...tears must fall.
