Rising Waters

When parents consumed with rage draw near Children abused will cower in fear No measure of pain can they disguise As the teardrops fall, the waters rise How many screams are piercing the air How many scars on their backs to wear The lash of a belt their only prize As the teardrops fall, the waters rise They cry alone with no one to hear The torment recurs year after year Their sorrow comes as no real surprise As the teardrops fall, the waters rise How many lives are cloaked in despair How much more pain and fear can they bear The clouds still grow in innocent eyes As teardrops fall, the waters rise
