Rise, and Rise Again

Have you ever felt sorrow so deep
it calls you out of bed?
The world asleep,
but every hurt
awake inside your head.

You cry,
then fight to catch your breath.
Pain has made you quiet.
You cannot find the words.

Let down so often,
you reach for the lock
when love comes near.
You long to let love in,
but remember
what it cost.

So you write.
You learn.
You build.
Some nights, one line
is all you finish,
but you finish it still.

Running through the night,
breath burning,
demons keeping pace,
you stop beneath a streetlight
and weep.

Your heart beats.
You are still here.
Breathe.
Move through the fear.

Like a swimmer diving deep,
you feel the pressure grow.
Below the noise,
you meet yourself,
then turn towards the glow.

Music lifts
what your hands cannot.
You ask God for relief
and give Him all you have.

You remember joy.
You pray that morning finds you
before despair takes hold.

Weeping may endure for a night,
but joy comes in the morning.

Open the curtains.
Wash your face.
Put your feet beneath you.
Let standing be
your first victory.

You can stand.
You can dive deeper
and still return for air.
You can run further.
Accept a hand
when the road is hard to bear.

Rise with trembling knees.
Rise with unfinished dreams.
Rise with the love
you still believe in.

Rise,
and rise,
and rise again.

Let the room that heard you crying
hear you singing.
Let shaking hands
finish the work
you brought to life.

This moment is temporary.
Your story goes on.
You will see the morning.
You will win,
breath by breath,
step by step.

Get back up.

And rise.

And rise.

And rise again.
