Rippling
rippling
chipped off
the rock of time
a lone pebble pierces
the soft water of life’s dreams
ripples of hope
spread across the pond
of blurred reality—
ripples bouncing
and dissipating—
curved banks confining
efforts of freedom
in the dying sunlight
of escape
we’ve become
like human truffles
hiding beneath the floor
of mother earth
in the diming twilight
above humanoid jackals
freely roam—
preying at will:
at the crossroads
of change
fading ripples
await the coming freeze.
