Ripped Apart

I channel fire in my heart
And it singed my soul
My heart black as coal
Ripping heartstrings apart

I think I forgot how to feel
As I ponder the moon
Midnight is soon
I need to remember how to heal

All I have is written word
But I'm starting to lack confidence
That anything I write makes sense
When I just want to be heard

I channel fire in my heart
But I welcome the familiar flame
Perhaps I was always to blame
For ripping heartstrings apart
