Ringing In the New Year

Chill the champagne
Activate the festive flair
Turn on our tv set
Tune in to Dick Clark’s
New Year Rockin’ Eve
Enjoy the lively entertainment
Times Square becomes
The center of our universe
The crowd is jubilant
Excitement roars
And culminates
The old year almost over
We join the countdown
Wholeheartedly and loud
There is no going back
Up and up in anticipation
For the celebrated ball drop
Five four three two one
Let’s pour the bubbly
And raise our glass
Hugs and kisses
For all our loved ones
It’s magical and surreal
Another year gone by
We turn the page
Goodbye Hello
We start anew
Dreams launched free
Exhilarate with possibilities

Perhaps no coincidence that you've posted this cheerful poem right about on the date of the Chinese New Year. Those folks can certainly use a dose of good cheer!... They may want to change their year from that of the Rat to the Year of the Bat! Poor China! What a plague they're dealing with! ~ Gershon

Indeed what a tragedy. What I remember of the year of the Rat is that it's very practical... zero in on fixing the problem at hand. Thankfully China seems to have quickly gone on FIX IT mode. This certainly has got the world's attention.
