Ring Around the Rosies
Eyes alight with joyous delight,
She takes a hold of my hands.
Her grin extends from ear to ear,
As she quietly commands.
To and fro, she starts to sway,
So I start us going around,
Singing "Ring around the rosies",
"Ashes, ashes we all fall down."
She giggles and claps with childish glee,
As she pops up from the floor.
Taking my hands we go 'round again,
Her joy causing my heart to soar.
I'll treasure these days of innocent play,
The memories I'll tuck in my heart;
'Cause all too soon my beloved baby girl,
Will grow up and from childhood depart.
3/5/15
In honor of my 19 month old granddaughter, Ava Grace.
