As Lord Flashheart in Blackadder: "It's me, Flash! Flash by name, Flash by nature. Hurrah!" Blackadder: "Where have you been?" Flashheart: "Where haven't I been! Woof!" I grew up watching The Young Ones, Blackadder (quoted above) and all the alternative comedy of the 1980s. Your clerihew Milt brought it all back and put a big smile on my face. :) Cheers - Gary

I hadn't either, Caren, until the contest. He seems to have been a very successful comedic actor in England.

Milton it is clear that John and Gershon know much more than you and I about this man. I honestly have never heard of him. Interesting to know some of his accomplishments through John and Gershon. Now you have peeked my interest up as always Milton and I will research who this man is and find out what John and Gershon were alluding too. I gather from your Poem he was a comic and was also an actor who possibly succumb to dying. I will have to follow up on this one my friend. Your honesty is

Thanks, Michael. I think there was some question raised about his death, but I'm not up on all the information. Apparently, he died of a heart attack quite unexpectedly.

I am not aware of all that Mr. Mayall was, John. A Clerihew is a four-line poem that doesn't give much room for exploring all that any man might have been or achieved. Thanks for your enlightening comment.

I'm not sure how this pertains to the gentleman in question, gw. As I told John, I'm not aware of all that he was, and a clerihew does not allow for a full exploration of any man's achievements.
