Ribbon Tied

you took both my breasts
leaving me with a flat chest
worse, feeling like less -
I feel like a man even
   in my most beautiful dress

11/12/12
Black Eyed Susan
*Dedicated to all women who have lost a breast (or both) to breast cancer - and also to my friend Pam who I just found out yesterday (11/14) has it and is beginning radiation

I am so moved by this one, ...and pray that your friend will be okay. We all know someone who has gone down this difficult road. A timely poem, Susan. _

I also wrote a poem about breast cancer. Read Mammogram. I think that they both speak of how women tie their breasts to their self-esteem.

Just wanted to thank you for thinking enough of my poem to place it on your winner's list...I am truley honored...I can surely identify with this poem, Susan...My youngest daughter had to have a double mastectomy 3 yrs ago after going thru radiation and chemo...so far she is cancer free, thank God...I hope your friend Pam is doing well - Tim

I am so honored for the win in your recent contest, Susan, but what is much more important for me to say is this poem dedicated to the plight of so many women, is more significant and important to be read. Thank you for calling attention to breast cancer again...there cannot be enough said. God Bless your friend. Thanks again
