Revving Up My Brain

This morning I am not in the finest mood Can’t be a lack of sleep or the lack of food, I cannot account for my apparent malaise Could be I’m going through a difficult phase Mostly discontent with myself, I think, Trapped in couplets may cause me to drink! Every word in my head aches for a rhyme It’s clear to me that I am not in my prime! I’m tossing my thesaurus and my dictionary Choosing for a rest today, not to be contrary So, give me a break while I rev up my brain If I figure out this disposition, I’ll explain!

We youngsters could use a charging station for brains sometimes, perhaps. :)

You answered your own dilemma my friend. Rest. A rested mind brings forth great thoughts. I honestly do not know how you can write so many poems Milton, a day, Not only write but also be true to the form. I as you know love three forms Narrative, Prose, and Rhyme. That is who I am and what I enjoy. Honestly i rather write Narratives. I guess I am selfish in that way. You and Andrea tackle every form out there, I applaud both of you for your effort. Your level of Poetry is at the highest level.

The question on hyperbole like in an exaggerated claim? Only when I am trying to be humorous. Milton when I do a narrative I have researched it to death. I have spent thousands upon thousands of hours reading and researching my list of books read would honestly fill up a twelve by twelve room, to the celing. My passion is research. Currently I am reading Genetic Roulette, by Jeffrey M. Smith it is about the documented health risks of genetically engineered foods that we consume. Extraordinary book.

Aw, thanks so much, Michael. You use hyperbole, don't you? I have been writing poetry for at least 70 years. I have taught creative writing, and I have judged forensics, particularly when my wife was teaching English. I've taken college-level poetry courses. I have a lifetime of experiences. So, give me a theme and I can probably write a poem on it if I can find a good form. I didn't say a "good" poem, but "a" poem! Thanks!

Me I am just a heartfelt writer. I write from my heart and my experiences in life, and my research I have proven to myself to share and help others, that is how I contribute. I do not know how you and Andrea do what you do. It is truly amazing. Rest my friend and you will see.
