Revolutions of the Past

Collective memory
holds sway
      over us all
The battles of the past
reverberate in our essence
      The words which were spoken
are indelibly engraved
      on our souls, the very
fiber of our being
      Let's not regret
what has gone wrong
      Rather we should
learn from it
      Step foward into
the new day
      As a phoenix rises
from the ashes
     So shall our our hopes
rise
      Let cynics beware
There is something new
  in the air
       While a - red dawn
comes
         Evening cannot be far behind
bringing peace
and the sweet scent of flowers
