Notes About The Poem
The Statue of Liberty is French. It was a gift from the French people to the United States, commemorating the alliance between the two nations during the American Revolution. The statue was designed by French sculptor Auguste Bartholdi.   W.O.P. = without passage or papers

Our own Statue of Liberty is a foreigner; Madam is French, here illegally, W.O.P.'s, shall ICE remove her & the historical significance? —Poet

Revolution

What does it mean to you?
When your own sasafr *ss is on the line,
the hope you had diminishes.

A Proud Boy is in your face
& has the final authority
A bad son shall end the likes of you.

With immunity he sheds blood
Crimson tidal waves of civil upheavals — never forget,
today's puff, may be your last cigarette.

An alien to you, to me you were sanctuary,
a perishing human am I, violently
I belonged, just like anyone.

Anaya, you haven't forgotten how grateful the French were for what we did for them. They also helped us during our revolution many years age. It's quite a contrast to today. Take care!!!

ICE takes down the Statue Of Liberty, a great concept! An immigrant sans papers, an outside agitator! You've inspired me to write "They're Coming To Take You Away".

Ty, Immigrant's come to America seeking SANCTUARY from oppression & it is their right under US law to plea they're case. There are immigration courts for this. Now I.C.E. is arresting them on the way to court. Disaster & death the result! I'll check "They're Coming To Take You Away" :)
