Very well said David! Your words abound with truth - the way we write and the way we respond to a poem showcases an element of ourselves. Even when we write a poem that's not about us, pieces of ourselves sneak into the poem. I often imagine that a poet's work is filled with tiny puzzle pieces in the form of this 'revelatory' pieces that if brought together can form a whole picture. Well penned.
