Reveal Unto Me
I see the good in it
I see the reason
Yet no matter how hard I search
I cannot confide, or believe this lie.
For a time long ago
It had its place but
Faithless I remain; no old book will
Convince me, public prayer
Or traditions ancient.
He was a clever man,
No doubt he lived, and
Convinced himself too.
Yet I wager my soul
In your fiery lakes
That I am right,
And you are wrong.
You must pity me?
But can I forgive, your blind devotion?
That has a very high price indeed,
War, corruption & judgement.
Three among throngs.
I cannot understand
The reason for withholding
Your Truth,
Where is your love, jealous God
In this pointless test of time?
I am a good man;
It’s an honest life I live,
Answer to none but myself,
Cause harm to nothing.
Your eternal death sentence
On my soul,
Is an evil itself,
And I want no part of it.
Your rewards may be great
And my suffering eternal, but
Your God is wicked,
And I am free
