Return to me oh fickle son while your mother weeps search on for call of the Jay though elusive Cardinal sleeps the roads took me back to voiced memory fair though flesh substance lack red ribbons of flowing hair I a begger have not an ounce for those unwitting palms yet rule of law denounce except in whispered psalms love fulfilled in child's smiling treasure all sins forgiven, each in equal measure
epilogue
~~~She was only three, when he, at eighty-three, breathed his last... the joy of new beginnings now forever linked to an unknown yet precious past~~~
The parable of the Prodigal Son comes to mind, Richard. Welcoming and forgiving may seem hard to many, but blessed are those who can achieve both. ~ Regards // paul
Paul, Thanks for that comment. Seeking absolution from the past. Not so easy when the years fade away. A kindred spirit perhaps, knowing the days you lived to see. -Richard
This is beautifully written. I felt like I was on a walk in nature as well with quiet reflection :)
Hello Heidi, Thanks for the comment. It's been a strange year. Hard to find the way home, harder still to leave it behind. I wish you the best in the final weeks of 2020. Tis the season... -Richard
Paghunda, Thank you for the comment. I'm glad that our paths crossed in a solumn moment. Time makes itself known to those who share in this life. You said the words so well in your poem "We Live". -Richard
