Retribution

As it nestles into her mind,
Like a untold secret,
She trembles.
As if all the hope and faith
She once had
Is slowly turning its back on her.
Fear and anxiety controls her instincts
She panics,
In an instant, she feels altered, changed, divergent... inhuman.
Like fuel,
Her heart ignites the fire
that torments her soul.
She’s furious
Her wrath, so potent, so lethal
Will eradicate those in her way.

Consider "Like fire, her heart ignites the fuel that torments her soul." That small change makes a difference to the logic within this excellent piece. I enjoyed this poem very much.
