Retreat
When my feelings are hurt, I exit the scene
So my hurt by others cannot be seen.
My pain calls for private time,
Where often I turn to words of rhyme
To express my thoughts, my feelings raw
And then sometimes, I'll paint or draw
For as, while I work, I think things through
To put in perspective and myself renew.
I find it extremely hard on the Internet
To deal with those who seem to forget,
People have hearts and are easily broken
By thoughtless remarks with no revokin'.
When you're a person who is really real,
And genuinely care, others will steal
All they can from you, an easy mark.
The waters are infested with many a shark.
With, for themselves only, so many concerned,
A gentle heart can easily get burned.
To be such a person requires courage quite immense,
Since is known, sharks are circling in numbers, dense.
Trying to spread Love in waters of hate
Is a grueling task for one to try to cultivate.
So, when the pain of being bitten is too much to bear,
I Retreat into a solitude where only God is there.
