Re-Tired

Is that the right time?
Confused, tormented, in pain
Is this the right place
My skin is aflame
My ankles sore and stiff
Being dragged and tossed about
And often drugged and stuffed
With meat I do not like

Don’t get old, I tell you
Here you lose your hold
On all that is precious
Even your most treasured of all
Your memories and your memory
Your ears ache from all the shouting
They tell me I am deaf

Do you ever understand
The courage it takes
To go on every day in pain
In loneliness and longing
For a better state?
I hope that tomorrow
Will be a better day.
