Restore Us O God
Most days are mild, sunny, and bright
We thrive with breaks from the dark nights
We grow healthy when we share YOUR sacred light
There's little to be gained from constant and senseless strife
Everyone should be born free and have a right to their rights;
GOD-granted rights, not given or taken for mankind's delights
May we cease from causing fear and fright
May we not stall to tear down these walls
YOU have opened every closet, leaving nowhere to hide
We must devise a solution to this our great divide
Maybe psychology has a point, but YOU GOD are totally right
It's deeper than brown, red, yellow, black, and white
We humans can be very cruel, feeble, and ever so evil
Hurt people really do hurt other people
We inflict the wounds that inflict us
We sweep onto others our own dust
We exercise our own desires and lust,
While pretending 'It's in God we trust'.
We engage in dialogue we love to discuss,
But we end up with more fuss and disgust
While I pray to YOU on this 7th day of August,
Arise and shine O GOD! Please restore all of us.
