Restless

My spirit is restless
My soul begins to unwind
Voices whisper in my heart
And memories linger in my ear
I want to rest but do not know how
Heart pounds
Breath comes in ragged gasps
I cling to what small portion
of inner peace I have left
As I slowly watch it slip from my grasp.
Like the ethereal fragments of a dream
One that you are not sure you want to recall
