Rest Awhile
Watch the wind as its blowing through the meadow
See the ripples of the dried wheat marking time
Hear the birds as they’re chirping in the tree tops
And hear the tumbling of the water making rhyme
Rest awhile by the brook and be happy
Let the toils of the day go undone
Close your eyes, dream a dream of your darling
And remember that you’re still number one
Feel the breeze of the wind over lapping
Touch the softness of the grass where you lay
Sing a song in your heart and be happy
That you see and feel this goodness today
Rest awhile by the brook and be happy
Let the toils of the day go undone
Close your eyes, dream a dream of your darling
And remember that you’re her number one
Breathe the freshness of this country air into you
Let it register in your mind for a while and see
If tomorrow never comes then you won’t regret it
For you’ve lived life the way it ought to be
Rest awhile by the brook and be happy
Let the toils of the day go undone
Close your eyes, dream a dream of your darling
And remember that you’re her number one
