Responsibilty

I was a soldier in my time.
I was there by choice
I think that gives me the right
To exercise my voice.

We don’t kill enough Politicians
When we get involved in War.
Perhaps we’d have more peace
If we killed a good few more.
Give every combat unit
Its own Member in residence
Send him on patrol
Let him actually experience
The death and destruction
His decisions can cause,
Make him risk his own life
In his Political Wars.
Let him live with the guilt
If he comes back alive
Make adjustments needed
For any Veteran to survive.
Perhaps war would diminish,
Diplomatic solutions willed
If more Politicians
Were sent off to be killed.

Yes I was a Regular soldier
A Politician’s volunteer tool
Knowing i could be killed
By the words of a fool.

Well I agree with placing them in the front line, maybe not go so far as to actually kill them. A couple may survive and come back to change some decisions. A rousing poem Terry and if it were to ever happen, that would mark the end of all world wars. Now how do we implement it and have it happen in the future ?

I think you’re a bit of a softy. Not coldly kill them Wen, just make sure they face the same front line conditions as the squaddies do.. They’ll have the same survival prospects as those they’ve sent. A couple of Cabinet Minister causalities should help. As for implementing it? The British in particular are renowned as Turkeys voting for Christmas.
