Resolutions

Reverberant the sounds of the new year coming forth Enticing us to leave something behind in it shadows Setting us up for some sort of failure almost immediately Ostentatiously we throw our thoughts upon the table Letting those around us know our resolutions made Utterance of promises we pledge to keep Truer for the new year coming forth than the previous one Instantaneously knowing it's the impossible we often seek Oblivious to the power trapped in our own mind's will Never fully ready to battle these demons to win the fight Surrender often become an easier choice until next year January 19, 2020 Resolutions Contest Sponsored by Matt Caliri

That last line sums this poem up wonderfully. Resolution for the new year are easy to make but difficult to keep. This was really nice Sandy. A beautifully written acrostic. Best wishes in the contest.

Never surrender. It is war. Time is not on our side. Be ready. Carry the flag my friend. Keep moving forward... Excellent powerful write. I loved every word, read it twice and then hit fav. It made me want to write a scene in one of my crazy books, to match the background. Kind of like background sound in a video. :) Excellent fun. Hugs. Ann

It works exactly as you say it does. We make them and we break them....Truer for the new year coming forth than the previous one, as you say. Excellent write Sandy... a win in my books.

Thank you Vijay...i stopped making them years ago for this reason... why set yourself up for failure and then feel bad to have not succeeded in something you knew would be a struggle... hugs :)
