Residue

I want to write about love
I want to write about how deep these roots have planted themselves in my chest,
How the leaves have stained my favorite sweater

I want to write about the summer again
How the wind brushed gently against my body
Or how I'd go out at night and tell the moon everything about you
I'd tell her how pretty you were
And how much I enjoyed your company.

I haven't talked to her in a while
She turns her back to me when go out at night.

I wish this clock would stop ticking.

And this stupid book.
I wish the letters would rearrange themselves into a story that was about us
And the ending I always wish we had
I still think you have the prettiest eyes by the way
But I wish I could take back everything I said.
