Reshape

I used to let the
demon of me
back me into corners—
deafening confessional sobs
with looming lies—

I used to let delusions
foreshadow my fate—
fear-driven claws
take
take
take.

Now I reshape my devil—
I bewitch horror
into lanterns
of fire made
from its very
teeth.

Hi Laura, I was thinking about your poetry and wanted to stop by. This poem about taking control represents a super achievement. OMG talk about turning lemons into lemonade! I only hope you can feel real pleasure in your accomplishments. It may lead to a sense of joy that can last for years. Of course the journeys that involve dealing with our challenges can lead to a variety of thoughts, which you express amazingly. Sending smiles!!!! Enjoy every day!!!!
