Reptilian Delight
It wriggled neath the thick dark mud
A small tadpole not yet a stud
Arms and legs not quite formed
Eyes still blind head deformed
Covered with a coat of slime
To keep him warm and alive
No more time to eat or drink
Sleepy eyes droop and wink
Three months of dreams under mud
Soon to awake a reptilian stud
With full legs a body and croak so deep
Now a bullfrog he awake from his sleep
The first full moon of spring
Reptilian delight the peepers' bring
All sexes dance beneath the moon
Croaking a delightful tune
