Renewed

I fell into a state of perpetual dismay,
Living through these trials and tribulations,
Watching destruction, suffering and deaths in display,
While others forging hatred in their very visions.

What can one person do to change this place?
To have peace and love conquer our hearts?
For if a single person can create such pain in disgrace,
Might another be able to create a change that can last?

What can I do? What can I say?
How can I make a difference to the indifferent?
Should I just leave it be, or rooted to stay?
Should I just ignore or stand up to this belligerence?

A thought appears from the blankness of the trance,
Growth, evolution of physicality manifest.
What of thought and being, does it expand and advance?
Can we evolve from our beliefs and open ourselves to this test?

Understand the hatred but never let it devour,
Understand the anger and let it not consume,
I shall start small in kindness and let go the need of power,
Only then, the power becomes true.

Within us, every emotion and destination lies,
This reality, ever changing to our surprise,
For this, empathy and kindness will be my device,
The World can only change if we see through renewed eyes.

Thank you all for your comments and well wishes. There is no destination for change, only direction.

"For if a single person can create such pain in disgrace, Might another be able to create a change that can last?" < This line really stood out to me... and the list of question. Empathy and kindness, this is what it boils down to. I enjoyed reading this. Everyone got a first place this time, as this was a challenge more than a contest. Thank you for participating!
