Renewal

The tree still stands,
Dead,
Leaves gone,
Bark cracked and peeling.
But, closer I look,
And new growth has emerged.
The tree still struggles,
To live,
New leaves emerging,
Growth where it is dead.
Why does it try,
To continue on with life?
Its roots are strong,
Keeping it alive,
Giving it hope,
To reach the sky once more
Am I the tree,
My roots keeping me strong?
