  rain sanctifies scorched soil, 
    birthing verdant growth 
                        from dust, 
                                  infused with the scent of petrichor.

I absolutely love the imagery you use in this poem my love. It's so vivid and I feel like I can actually feel and smell what you are describing. Congratulations on placing in the contest, you definitely deserve it.
