Remembrance Day 2009
Lest we forget
We are supposed to set aside
A mere moment today
To remember those
That gave their lives that
We might have freedom.
But perhaps a better way
To thank all those who
Died alone in cold trenches
Or trapped in prisons in far off lands,
Is not to mourn their memory but
To be truly thankful for our lives today
To appreciate the sun that shines
Over the hills and valleys of this land
To savour sweet breaths of fresh air
And to celebrate our opportunity
To live our lives fully, as we wish
Life a blessing and a gift.
