Notes About The Poem

" A RIGHTEOUS MAN HATH REGARD FOR THE LIFE OF HIS BEAST BUT THE COMPASSION OF THE WICKED IS CRUEL."                                                                                                                                                        Proverbs 12:10

Remembering Them

It's cold and damp outside tonight.
A cold rain drizzles down;
And now it's just the four of us,
Who walk the streets of town.

I miss the others very much,
Especially when we walk;
Their memory so vivid,
As we commune and talk.

I still can see their faces,
Still see the standing there,
Waiting oh so patiently,
To take the evening air.

Tiara was so quiet,
So gentle, sweet and good;
Obedient to the very end,
As by my side she stood.

Tasha was my princess,
A lady through and through.
A delicate aristocrat,
She was my baby too.

Petey Dog was handsome.
So merry, full of love,
And all he asked was, "Love me back".
He'll always be beloved.

Major was our protector.
A trusted, stalwart friend.
Patient, trusting, loving,
Loyal to the end.

I will always miss them,
For they were family.
Their love and loyalty to me,
Is an anomaly.

For God gave us the animals,
To teach us loyalty,
For seems to me most folks are born,
Without this faculty.

The heart of human beings,
Is selfish, cruel, unkind,
Seldom showing mercy,
As though we were born blind.

Animals are loyal,
Self-sacrificing too,
In humans that much dignity,
Is found but in a few;

So when I look to find a friend,
He'll likely have a tail;
For when I need a friend the most,
I know he will not fail.

Beautiful, Judy. Domestic animals are friendlier than people. I'd always consider them more. I'm sorry for what happened. Blessings.

Thank you so much Lasaad. These were animal friends that died from old age. I have had dogs and cats my whole life and have had to say good bye many times. At present we live with a 10 yr. old Coon Hound and two cats. It is going to hurt terribly when it's time for our Coon Hound to cross the Rain Bow Bridge. I've been begging my husband to get two more dogs. He keeps saying no but I have trouble living without dogs and cats. I've never lived without them. God Bless, JB

A lovely tribute Judy, they're not just pets, they're family, so loving and loyal. Hope you're keeping well.
