Remembering a Friend
Today my spirit hides amongst the shadows
cast upon me here by death’s long reach;
forever leaving darkness in the meadows;
happiness, did sadly death impeach.
I ponder our existence in this living;
all the friends we make along the way,
and how at times our life is unforgiving
heading down the path that leads astray.
Our time on earth is but a fleeting moment,
just a tick-tock in eternity.
It’s far from ever being a bestowment
living here in life’s fraternity.
Throughout your days you've shared with us your wisdom,
always lived your life in high degree,
and now my friend you’ve passed unto God's kingdom,
I’m asking that you save a place for me.
