Image result for pictures of pear trees in fall

Autumn came in darkness like thieves at night
Recalculated angle of fireball
Flung out a master canvas so, so bright
Readjusted the thermostat to cool fall
Touched the pumpkins just for Halloween fright

He blew deadly frost upon the cool pears
Left them chilled ready to noisily splat
As they land on rain drenched earth whose affairs
Weight it down like many bureaucrats
Dancing through long hushed nights putting on airs

Remembering last year as I re-read
Life much the same as last year except___well
COVID visited from hell, planted seed
It skirted round and entered where I dwell
Fall you breath of fresh air, heal us I plead

Autumn with cooler, drier air bring us joy
Sling out rust, red and yellow; our days fill
We now fully understand COVID's ploy
Let's overcome this heinous disease spill
Immerse us all this fall~ color enjoy

Brian, Yes, I guess it is a gender thing because my father loved to tell about what happened when he was a boy, teenager, young adult and his other adult life. Thanks for reminding me that it probably is a gender thing. Sara

Brian, Yes, the brain does age as does the body with its internal parts that we can't see. Each of us ages similarly but also differently. My husband loves to go around telling about when he was young and what he did. I don't try to look back but only want to go forward. Mostly I don't remember what he remembers. LOL..I guess I just don't try but if I do I don't remember it like he does. Your visits always encourage. Sara

Hi Sara, You composed a well-written poem for the contest theme. I stand in prayer with you that you continue to from the aftermath of that dreadful disease. Best wishes in the contest. Have a great evening and weekend-Alexis

Alexis, I probably could have done much better but my thinking is still not like it should be. I thank you for the prayers because we do them all the time but especially now in this time of healing. God richly bless you.. Sara
