Remembering

REMEMBERING ??

9/8/20. (Witten for Michele Embry Madison
In memory of our dearestfriend Charlie Cooper)

There are tears
Sitting at the outside
Corners of our eyes, grown cool now.
They do not fall.
They do not dry.
There are tears with histories
Living on in hearts,
Aside thoughts
Making poems, trying
To use ink to quell pain.

There are tears
In hidden vaults, lost in minds.
They do not escape, do not leave,
Nor evaporate.
The verses of tears
Are lines like our lines, forever,
Waiting to be written,
Word by word
From the beginning, but
The tears, still, do not dry.
