Remember Me Mother

remember when you had me , a bouncing baby girl
remember when i busted my lip riding that
bike off the front step
when you told me not too.
remember when i was baptized
remember when i had my first communion
( i looked so pretty in that dress)
remember when you first showed me how to cook,
the first time i made dinner for you
remember when i became a woman the first time
remember when i left home to go away to school
remember when my first child was born
remember my first house
i say these things to try to get you to remember
because you can't. Alzheimer's took away everything
that you used to remember mother.

Remember, please remember me mother
