Remember Me

Lying on my back, reading the stars
Pondering why Jesus is so very far
The Holy Spirit, I know him by name
I believe in my heart, but feel just the same

Sunday comes and many are greeted
I sing and I praise while feeling defeated
I've called out to him, revealing my palms
But where is he at, what is taking so long
I starve for his warmth to fill my cold shell
But leave feeling clammy, drained and pale
I know that he's blessed me in many ways
So I continue to believe and faithfully praise

Perhaps his delay is due to my fear
Terrified of change, to routine, I adhere
If I go all in and leave nothing out
Drying all tears and clearing all doubt
Then I must be willing to pull some strings
Rearrange my priorities and alter some things
But to alter is to change and of that, I'm afraid
Perhaps this explains why the sickness has stayed
Doubt of salvation paired with the disease of me
Keeps my soul at war and I'll never be free

What must I give up to give him my all
Subtract sin from my life and I slow to a crawl
This is what satan wants me to believe
He knows my weakness and on that, he feeds
But I know of the glory and relentless grace
Outside of my box, it patiently awaits
I continue to ride the same vessel around the sun
And have faith, he remembers me, when it's all said and done
