Remember

I remember you in the shadows before sunlight was stole away sitting still out there in the silence not knowing what was to come of day I remember you when the dirt had stiffened the winds, once wicked up and whisked away there were shells but no seashore as echoes rung through rain I remember the drear of December lasting all way to May bare and barren hearts beating empty an anchor to a wounded prey I remember you a soul slipping from memory crying for life to be living more than to be left alone
