Religion

We have today among us
Those who prey upon our soul
Preying on the weak and helpless
With making money as their goal

For religion is their business
And they are doing well
With your fear of your damnation
The only product that they sell

They harrumph prognostications
Pretending to be wise
Making "learned" interpretations
To pools of upturned eyes

“Burden of proof” a foreign concept
Some of their teachings, outright lies
The laws of truth in advertising
To them do not apply

Their customers are the ignorant
Their stories frightening and sublime
How you’ll go to hell forever
If you don’t buy into their line

For fear is powerf’ly effective
Against the young and frightened soul
And they have honed it masterf’ly
As their instrument of control

They created a vicious devil
And a terrifying hell
And unleashed them on their faithful
To help their products sell

They made God into a tyrant
Who will punish them at will
If they do not bow down before them
And their commands fulfill

They offer no true knowledge
That would free men from their rack
Just the “hope” of their salvation
To keep them coming back

For if they taught them truly
What the Master plainly taught
The cash flow they rely on
Would vanish on the spot

For there is no damnation
As there is no hell
And there is no one to judge you
You will only judge yourselves

They took the stories of the Master
And changed them all around
Until his perfect teachings
Are nowhere to be found

He did not teach damnation
And He never taught of hell
He taught only to love each other
As all true readings tell

He fought against religions
And they all wanted him dead
For religion blocks the minds of men
And gives them superstition instead

He taught of evolution
And the progress of the soul
In it’s quest to Gods’ perfection
For that’s the final goal

Such a difficult subject to approach. I imagine many people of faith find their religion comforting and helpful. In trying to understand the world, It can illuminate or destroy. Depends on what side one stands. I admire your thinking in this work. Allan
