Relics of a Bygone Day

Roaming over the wheatfields
     their joints a-cranking
   insecticide fog blankets the air
     Oklahoma dustbowl bleeds

Relics of a bygone day, all angles they move
ravaging fields and pests, pests and fields
   wheels of progress a-churning away
     blackening golden grain
                 ~ pests' entree, noonday

Hi Gershon, my son-in-law's late grandmother worked around pesticides on a farm in her youth. When she got older she developed Parkinson's disease which could of been from the pesticides. Our farmworkers toil in these conditions of farm owners using some pesticides. Also, it also affects our pollinators the bees. Thank you for writing this poem. ~

This is a very well written poem Gershon with important issues highlighted so well. ‘Insecticide fog blankets the air’ how true! So much needs to be done to address this major problem. Thank you for sharing. Blessings to you.

Now everything is losing its pristine purity. All vegetations are sprayed with insecticides ! Pests are a problem, but for killing them , powerful toxins are used, damaging our health. You have addressed a vital issue of the times.
