Swing, Rush, Playground, Meadow, Play

There is a story that needs to be told A grown-up child now holds the secret in The raw emotion trapped releases bold Dreams that haunt in midnight's tangled den Way back he was idolized, her anger blocked Pushed down on the spot but arose at night Where demons chased and the small child mocked In dreams she would run and jump with all her might He said 'twas you who came out tempting me Told her to stay you can't come to the pasture Her anger boiled beneath the surface free The dreams began totally to be her master What he did when she was seven years old Rest in the grave with him and remains untold

Janice, It is a wonder that my generation survived for what was called punishment back then is considered abuse today. It was the accepted norm for homes, schools, etc. I am glad that new ways are in place today. Thanks for dropping by. Sara

Handsome sonnet. Loved the last line of the third stanza. Kipling? And, of course the poignant volta. Congratulations.

I found the poem about which you were speaking. "If" by Rudyard Kipling. I had read it and my line is similar to his line. It is amazing how we can internalize things and it come out in our writing. He was a great writer and I do enjoy many of his works. Sara

Greg, Your visit to my page is encouraging. I have read some of Kipling's work but it has been awhile. Does seem that something about that line rings a familiarity to a line somewhere else. I will have to type it in and see if I get a match to another writer. I typed it in and it came up matches to gaming and Nemo. LOL..I haven't even seen these. LOL ..Thanks for stopping by. Sara

Sara, the very difficult and horrific subject of child abuse is powerfully and very realistically portrayed in your work here. The poem stands as a testament to your strength, beliefs and ability as to how you have somehow managed to move on and live your life.

released indeed! This seems terrible, real and well expressive. If this is a reflection of a true life story, then the girl needs help. Great write Sara, its been a while.

Funom, You will notice that I said, "The grown-up child". So that tells you lived through it to the other side but the child within still suffers the pain of the past. I do appreciate you dropping by and taking time to comment and be really concerned about the child. Sara

WoW! Sara this is fraught with emotion held deeply within the breast. Unspent anger wishing to be set free. It is never the victim's fault when innocence is misused. A great write. God Bless, JB

Judy, Thanks for the understanding review of my work. Abuse in any form hurts a person especially a child who hasn't the ability to handle the situation. Your presence at my work is uplifting. Sara

Connie, Yes, abuse should be stopped and the only way is to get into each person's heart and plant the love that should be there. Sara
