Relaxing In Central Park

Our park is a place of unnatural wonders A shirtless man wearing low-riding jeans Two women buxom and bold, stalking, While an older gentleman homeless, I suspect Stakes a claim on a rickety old bench. Teenagers are playing flag football nearby A tiny tot looks around lost and starts to whimper When his mama spots him and yells angrily. Numerous squirrels are chasing their tails. Four teenage girls are loudly kvetching, while A young man wearing a designer mask Seems properly afraid of catching the virus And I observe all, while trying to write a poem. Why, thanks. I just wrote what I saw. And like my poetry, some was pretty and some was not so pretty.

Oh, I think you are right, Christopher. Poets are born observers, especially people-watchers. Thanks for your read and your insightful comment.

Ilene, if I were in New Yawk City on a park bench I'd be looking you up! I would need some help navigating. I don't often go to the park, but I was bored and couldn't think of any way to get my Muses working, so off I went. I think it was productive. Thanks!

Thanks so much, Mike. I don't go there often, but occasionally I need the stimulation, and people-watching will certainly shake up the mind and, sometimes, the creative juices.

Thank you, Delice. Yes, I have found everyday images are often the best stimulus for a piece of creative writing, poetry or otherwise.
