Reign of Peace

Into the mist
I passed
         Leaving earthly cares
far behind
       Sweet rainfall
caressing me
   Now I really understand
what was meant for me
      Overhead
trees with leaves of
      silver
   Glitter in the sunshine
Our days eventually fade
into emptiness
    But as we begin
the dance
   We know joy
    As we breathe in
         the perfumed air
our souls take
         delight
In the dance of nature
We are at peace

This is a lovely lyric, Matthew! You create a tone for such tranquility, here. I have only just read the Frost poem to which you referred on my poem, "Off the Top". Frost has been one whose work I have admired since I was a young girl. Not sure why I'd never heard "Nothing Gold Can Stay", but it will surely not be forgotten. Simply beautiful. You have taken on the same gift for lovingly describing and grasping the essence of nature. Hugs, my friend! Donna

What an uplifting view. Nice use of imagery. I like the thought of peace at the end. I also like the interesting arrangement of the lines. Thank you for sharing this one with us. Karen

Somehow I see a sould rising up through the trees to heaven. And I have always believed that to find peace is to know true joy. Beautiful poem! Love, Carolyn

This is very peaceful and lovely. Thanks for your comments. No I had to weave it into my poem, my beloved great grandson was taken from us this Frday just as the poem says. I am distracting myself with poetry. Love, Joyce

I am sorry. I don't know how this ended up on this poem. I was looking at one poem then this popped with my remarks. Reign of Peace, nicely written. Sara
