Notes About The Poem
I've walked away from a few relationships and often, after a year or two, look back through rose tinted glasses. this poem hopes to show that. :)
Regrets and Mistakes
You and I shook hands, shook hands with au revoir,
After the cold hard truth was talked,
And then, with no more words to utter,
We turned our backs… we walked,
With resolve and steel, going our way,
Each foot in front of the other,
Not looking back, but to the future ahead,
To the arms of a beautiful lover,
Neither of us knew the path we trod,
Made little lines of hope,
Repairing the words we had said,
Repairing the words we broke,
Until now, alone in my head,
My mind wanders that path back to you,
And remembers the beauty that we had,
Remembering the things we would do.
