Listen to poem:
Sometimes the dry desert wind Strips slowly the sandless skin Of the soul Gentle balm of the wide Spirit Settling upon the surface Singing a song of suppleness Message of the mindful reflection From the internal mirror Of the heart Home to the fruitful Spirit Residence of the restoring, loving kindness Of the refreshing riverside Where solace comes, pacifying With the sounds trickling and dancing Over cool stones of thought

Growing up in the West Texas desert, as I did, the first stanza here really resonates with me. This piece really reflects your "wide" and "fruitful" Spirit, Sam.

The desert is an intriguing wilderness and a cruel mistress of extremes. Thank you for your insight and kindness, Jim. Blessings, Sx :)

Dear Sam, your poem is a beautiful reflection on resilience and renewal. The imagery of the "dry desert wind" paired with the "gentle balm of the wide Spirit" paints a vivid contrast between struggle and solace. A truly soothing and inspiring poem, a fave for me...Hugs
