Reflections On Fishing

I saw an old flame
and it was
so lovely
to see him again
and feel the way
our love bloomed
between us
old and new
and timeless

After we parted
I thought perhaps
i would write to him
throw out a line
of words
so he would bite
and i could reel him in
and see
what sort of fish
he had become

But i just couldn’t
he was too beautiful
swimming away from me
into the flickering
lights and shadows
of his life

The imagery of fishing is masterfully cast into this poem of love and letting go.

It feels great that you gave him the freedom to swim away, not to be captured again in your lovely ways.
